Update: Brodie was in surgery yesterday from 745 - 345. I am so not cut out for the waiting side of this! I told Russ - he is so strong I don't know how he did this when we were both in surgery...
Brodie's procedure went outstanding and we definitely witnessed an amazing miracle.
Three stents were placed in his portal vein. They were able to place stents that were large enough to potentially grow with Brodie for life.
This was something we originally thought was not possible. Can you believe that!?!?!?!?!? I mean nothing but happy surprised beautiful tears - when we heard that!!!
This was the best possible scenario for Brodie's state. We are so soo sooo thrilled, overjoyed and grateful.
Dr. Sands did the procedure and our favorite surgeon Dr Hashimoto ran wingman to consult.
I wish I could appropriately convey the talent, skill and artistry that was executed by Dr. Sands. Simply put - he is amazing.
It was told to us that because of the intricacy, complexity and meticulous nature needed - perhaps he was the only one who could have accomplished this with the execution necessary.
Not only is Dr Sands amazing in the procedure he is incredibly intelligent, informative and kind...
Once again. We are forever indebted to the talent acquired and retained by Cleveland Clinic Children's and Cleveland Clinic. We are so very, very, very thankful.
We have been in the PICU for observation, our little warrior had a rough night as anticipated - gassy, uncomfortable, slight fever, elevated blood levels etc. those have subsided and he is slowly getting his mojo back!!!
The ultrasound looked beautiful this morning - no bleeding, everything where it should be, stents solid and just a beautiful working portal vein.
And if this doesn't blow your mind, I don't know what will - we. are. getting. discharged.
Boom. Microphone drop.
Yet again another miracle performed, another fight fought, more prayers answered and LOTS of life to be lived 💗
