Update: 04/21/2016 - Procedural Update

A quick update in our Liver Tale - Bro-Meister is thriving and doing fabulous. You would never know that 3 days ago we were 6 hours deep in our Interventional Radiology procedure Cleveland Clinic Children's.

This 11 month old, 26 pounder - appetite is hearty today, his smiles are generous and he is still super cuddly - which is how I know he is still not a full 100% but pretty darn close.

He also is ferociously zooming around our house in his walker and terrorizing our pooch (dont worry we protect her) or getting into all of his big sissy's toys (which of course generates massive meltdowns from both parties)... I think he loves the walker because he can be free - and cause a bit of havoc!

Over the past 48 hours I have tried to comprehend how this reality is possible...

How this little human can be so resilient...

How can our surgeons, doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses and staff at Cleveland Clinic be so talented....

How can God be so good...

How can this insane miraculous feat of life be any more incredible....

I simply cannot wrap my mind around everything.

All I know is the gratitude I feel runs so deep, the thankfulness I have is endless and the forces that have allowed our warrior to get here are so powerful.

"Sometimes all you can do is not think, not wonder, not imagine, not obsess. Just breathe and have faith because miracles do happen."

Thank you for your love, good vibes, intentions, prayers and shower of positivity - we are so very grateful and once again overwhelmed by your generous spirits we love our tribe ๐Ÿ’—.

XO - TT

PS we still have the shots... twice a day for at least another 3 months - oh well if that is all I keep telling myself - suck it up buttercup - could be worse!

Update: 04/19/2016 - Procedure Update

Update: Brodie was in surgery yesterday from 745 - 345. I am so not cut out for the waiting side of this! I told Russ - he is so strong I don't know how he did this when we were both in surgery...

Brodie's procedure went outstanding and we definitely witnessed an amazing miracle.

Three stents were placed in his portal vein. They were able to place stents that were large enough to potentially grow with Brodie for life.

This was something we originally thought was not possible. Can you believe that!?!?!?!?!? I mean nothing but happy surprised beautiful tears - when we heard that!!!

This was the best possible scenario for Brodie's state. We are so soo sooo thrilled, overjoyed and grateful.

Dr. Sands did the procedure and our favorite surgeon Dr Hashimoto ran wingman to consult.

I wish I could appropriately convey the talent, skill and artistry that was executed by Dr. Sands. Simply put - he is amazing.

It was told to us that because of the intricacy, complexity and meticulous nature needed - perhaps he was the only one who could have accomplished this with the execution necessary.

Not only is Dr Sands amazing in the procedure he is incredibly intelligent, informative and kind...

Once again. We are forever indebted to the talent acquired and retained by Cleveland Clinic Children's and Cleveland Clinic. We are so very, very, very thankful.

We have been in the PICU for observation, our little warrior had a rough night as anticipated - gassy, uncomfortable, slight fever, elevated blood levels etc. those have subsided and he is slowly getting his mojo back!!!

The ultrasound looked beautiful this morning - no bleeding, everything where it should be, stents solid and just a beautiful working portal vein.

And if this doesn't blow your mind, I don't know what will - we. are. getting. discharged.

Boom. Microphone drop.

Yet again another miracle performed, another fight fought, more prayers answered and LOTS of life to be lived ๐Ÿ’—

Update: 04/17/2016 - BIG Procedure Check In

Update: 4/17 - What a whirlwind. We are here at Cleveland Clinic Children's admitted and we are cried out (pokes and prods over) and at this moment peacefully resting (repeat pokes at 1AM).

This weekend has been incredible.

The Cleveland Indians game yesterday was amazing. It was incredible to have the support, love and tribe time together.

Did you catch the story on WKYC Channel 3 - Cleveland???? Or on the indians Blog!?!?!?

Guess what? Nailed it. Brodie on me, nerves going crazy, shaky hands happening and my pitched sailed over the plate!!! Woo woo!

Russ, Harper, Brodie and me cannot tell you how incredible it was to look up from the field and see the crowd going bananas in our sections. We could feel the roar of energy and good vibes soaring from the 250+ BGVTers that were there!!!!!

Thank you all for taking time out of your worlds and attending the game. You all made it such an amazing event - even if you were just there in spirit!

Things will be a bit backwards for me and posting - I will post the Indians game stuff later this week...

We are getting ready for our big procedure tomorrow: Mission - Conquer, Destroy and Rid - the blood clot.

This will be appx a five hour surgery. It will start around 7 and be completed by noon.

Thank you for love, prayers, juju, thoughts and intentions we will need, want and ask for them all.

Please lift our little warrior up so he can once again show us that life is made of miracles and there is so much good.

I believe.

Go Warrior... go....

Updates to come tomorrow.

Update: 04/17/2016

Waiting and waiting.... I guess if there is a way to wait, it is on Cleveland Clinic Children's Rooftop Pavilion in 70 degrees and sunshine reading about our incredible weekend on the front page of Medina Gazette .

The latest update on Brodie from the OR - he is doing awesome, very stable and the procedure is progressing. Dr Sands and the amazing Interventional Radiology team is taking great care of our little warrior!

Update: 04/16/2016 - We. Threw. Out. The. First. Pitch. OMG.

"We were wondering if you would like to throw the first pitch out in honor of Organ Donation Awareness month" asked Cleveland Clinic , "You have been such an inspiration for those who work here, the transplant community and we would love for you to represent Cleveland Clinic Children's at the Cleveland Indians game...."

I am pretty sure my jaw was resting on the floor but I quickly got my druthers together and sputtered out - "ummmm YES YES YES! YES I would Love To!"

An opportunity to show my new found love for Organ Donation (well let me clarify I have ALWAYS checked yes since 16 when I got my license) - but you all know how much this has increased over the past year in my journey with Brodie.

Lifebanc and Donate Life America work to put together a MONTH a WHOLE MONTH to educate, inspire, share and publicize the GIFT OF LIFE and WHAT and HOW Organ Donation changes the individuals, families and the world.

Of course we were in.

Brodie's Good Vibe Tribe rallied and filled over two sections โ€“ 300+ people in attendance.

The pitch โ€“ Brodie and I? We nailed it.

Harper and Russ were there every sweat drop along the way.

My pitch? Soared over the plate โ€“ until the catcher dropped it! Oh Boy!

What an honor.

So humbled and amazed and inspired by the day, the honor, the people, the friends and this new life journey in the transplant world.

LOVE your LIFE story.

Update: 04/16/2016

Oh my goodness y'all - it is TIGUE TIME .... ummmm.... I mean TRIBE TIME..... I mean TIGUE TRIBE TIME - yes yes there it is!

I am so excited! I am so excited to share this moment with my family, with the Organ Donation community and our biggest supporters you as our TRIBE!

So put on those RALLY CAPS! And help us get our celebration on of us being a family of 4 and our Warrior and our super Chief.

This will be so fun and can you even - this weather!?!??!?! YES!!!!!!

Remember that the weather is a little cooler downtown by the lake so dress accordingly!

So here are some things you might be wondering:

WHEN SHOULD I BE THERE??
Be in your seats or be able to see the field by 3:30 PM - we do not have an exact time but I can tell you between 3:30 - 4:05 we will be throwing the heat. The 4 of us will be on the field and then me and Brodie get to go to the mound to throw!

WHERE WILL THE TIGUE's BE??
We will be on the field living the VIP life ;) and then we will be coming up to our section -311 with ALL of you!! Literally this whole section is people who are part of BGVT - so they have love for our little warrior, organ donation and have been part of our journey - so don't be shy! Make a new friend! Enjoy the game!

Kids:
There is a very friendly "Kids Zone" right next to our section that it perfect for restrooms, changing babes and playing for kiddos. Also if it is your love nugget or tater tots first game take them to customer service to get a CERTIFICATE of their first Indians game.

Photography:
Our very favorite special photographer will be there documenting our experience on the field but then will also be coming into the stands to get the fan experience side too. Her name is Shannon and she is awesome - so if you want some special family / friend / whatever you want pics - ask her to snap you!

Please send ANY pictures or video you take of the event - this is SO SPECIAL to us and we are so honored that you chose to be with us and have been such a huge supporter of BGVT and our journey.

NEED YOUR HELP SPECIAL PROJECT:
As you all know today's event and us being part of it is a gift from the Cleveland Clinic Children's and in the honor of Organ Donation - this is national OD Month.

I have a REALLY awesome idea in my head and I need your help to make it become a reality.

this is what I am asking from you....

Have you ever seen inspirational three word videos? They are awesome.

I would like to put together something that is moving and inspiring and I would like you to be a part of it.

Have you seen those three word videos?

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wxGqYFelGuM

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WL8yEfGvMQM

We are going to create footage at the game.

i am asking for you to bring your signs to the game!!!! We will have a table

We will be asking you to answer one of the following questions in three words.

What do you want to tell organ donors out there?

What do you want to tell organ recipients out there - who are on a list or who have been transplanted?

How have you been impacted, influenced or inspired by BGVT or someone who has gone through a transplant?

On a poster board (we have been cutting the board in half so it is not as big)...

Write an answer to one of these questions in 3 words then add one of the following hashtags:

#DONATELIFE or #GIVE2LIVE

It should read something like this:

STRONG. BRAVE. WARRIOR.
#give2live

You are amazing
#donatelife

*if you would like to recognize someone who went through a transplant you can make a sign that denotes their "New Organ Date"
*if you would like to recognize someone who was a donor or a LIVE donor same

See below for an examples....

Shannon Ahlstrand Photography will be taking still photos of you in your BGVT Gear holding the signs you make. We will then be compiling into a similar video as you see above.

I am asking you to bring signs to the game. We are also going to have a table set up where you can make a sign there too. This will be in the concourse by our section.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS!

This is my super wish that you all participate and you all know how incredible you are and how much I appreciate your help with this.

You all are amazing and cannot tell you how much love, gratitude and inspiration I have gained from you. Please know how proud I am to call you my family, friend and a part of BGVT.
